Write up:
Photographing the letters was a good experience because it forced my brain to think in abstract ways and look at the world differently to find the alphabet. The only thing that was hard was finding more complex letters like Q, R and G.
I picked the word Dank to describe myself because I think that I am fairly in tune with the youth culture of my generation, which would make me cool. The slang word for cool a few years ago was dank, and so I think its fitting to use that word to describe my relationship with the world I live in and how I keep up to date with pop culture. I also did Kind because I have been told by my peers and my friends that I am a kind and caring person who is looking out for my friends.
If I did this assignment again, I would want to do it in an area where there is more variety in terms of subjects of things that look like letters. In Livingston, it seemed like most of the letters came in the form of weirdly shaped branches or wood that was in an odd configuration. I also think that it would be nice to be able to take photos of real letters that occurred in the world because although it requires less creativity, it results in a more refined look for the final project and it also makes it more fun to play around with possible words.
